Workshop notes and milestones from the Stringer years.
A final note from the workshop
Following the sustained disruption caused by Covid-19, Stringer Precision Engineering Ltd has closed its operations. After sixteen years, Red would like to thank everyone who played a part in the company’s story.
This website will remain as an archive. The company is no longer accepting enquiries, quotations or orders.
Stringer Precision joins the Formula 1 paddock
In this imagined chapter of the company story, Stringer Precision sponsored an F1 race meeting, bringing its chairman into a world where preparation, precision and teamwork are measured in fractions of a second.
The highlight of Red’s day was a paddock photograph with Lewis Hamilton. For a man with a lifelong interest in machinery, the attraction was as much the engineering behind the performance as the spectacle on the circuit.
The company name on the clothing adds a suitably ambitious flourish to the scrapbook. This sponsorship story is part of the parody, not a real commercial partnership or historical race report.

An unexpected interruption
The pandemic has brought significant changes to the working day. Workshop visits are suspended and project schedules are being reviewed as circumstances develop.
Red’s message is characteristically practical: look after one another, keep the lines of communication open and take each problem in turn.
A very distinguished handshake
An imagined workshop visit with Boris Johnson, set during his time as Prime Minister. In this playful addition to the scrapbook, Red appears thoroughly prepared for the photograph—and rather less prepared to let anyone lean on a freshly checked component.

A decade of difficult drawings
Ten years since the first workshop doors opened, the company marks its anniversary with a gathering, a look through the early scrapbook and a firm request that nobody put a glass on the inspection table.
A little more room for precision
A rearrangement creates additional bench space for prototype work. Red describes the new arrangement as entirely logical, provided nobody moves anything.
Six years at the bench
Looking back at a modest beginning, a growing collection of projects and an undiminished determination to get the details right.
